Purpose
Hypnotic susceptibility scales were developed for "reliable measurement of hypnotic susceptibility" to understand how and why hypnosis works, and to assist clinicians.

Common Scales
Widely used scales include the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility, Form A (HGSHS:A), and the Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale, Forms A, B, and C (SHSS:A, SHSS:B, SHSS:C).
The SHSS:C is considered the "gold standard" for assessing hypnotizability.
